Our Client
As a worldwide design resource, Autodesk, Inc. helps overĀ four million design professionals in over 160 countries model, make, manage and market their designs. Autodesk Location Services is a global provider of location-based software applications such as LocationLogic, a location services platform designed to deliver location-based applications to wired, mobile and wireless users.
The Need
Autodesk engaged Quadrus to help complete work on the LocationLogic platform and ensure it was technically solid for a successful release to market. Autodesk’s intention is to sell the LocationLogic platform to global telephone companies looking to develop applications for location services.
Our Solution
Components were designed and implemented to provide fault-tolerant, load-balanced services to applications. The core engine was enhanced for performing tracing functions. Database exception handling and transactions were added to make the application more robust. Autodesk also wanted to determine if LocationLogic could be made accessible to users via the Internet. This would ultimately broaden the platform’s applications in the marketplace since Internet access would provide increased flexibility, usability and convenience to users.
The Result
Although Autodesk was familiar with Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) technology, it knew that finding an answer required specific technical expertise, for which they looked to Quadrus. Both Autodesk and Quadrus deemed these projects a huge success. The first release of LocationLogic was “code complete”, on schedule and on budget.
