Harris Corporation 

Harris Corporation is an international communications equipment company focused on providing product, system and service solutions for commercial and government customers. Harris Microwave Communications Division (MCD) is the largest supplier of microwave systems in North America and a leading supplier worldwide. The division delivers wireless solutions to service providers of all types including public network operators and fixed wireless operators, government agencies and power utilities.

Through the convergence of microwave and networking technologies, MCD's objective was to build multi-service broadband wireless access solutions for an entirely new, emerging market. Microwave access represents an excellent cost-effective alternative or complement to fiber or cable deployment and can be used to transparently interconnect several geographically dispersed buildings, as well as deliver a broad range of value-added Internet services to end users.

Quadrus was engaged to assist in the system design and software development of a portion of this new product. Quadrus had precisely the level of expertise and manpower required to build the configuration, provisioning, and monitoring management tool for the project. Quadrus brought its expertise in Java development to the table, along with its high-level design capabilities and implementation skills. Harris developers were also mentored on the Java software Quadrus was building. It was critical that Harris internal people understood the product—so that it could be effectively maintained once the project was complete.

In the end, Harris was more than satisfied with Quadrus' technical skills, as well as the framework that was built. This project was a successful group effort by all parties involved—evidenced by the fact that this Harris product successfully went to market and is currently in use in several countries around the world.
