Quadrus Development Inc.
Was Quadrus Training a worthwhile investment? Definitely. The particular project we're working on has demonstrated significant ROI - we're seeing huge returns. This new process allows developers to move forward more smoothly, more efficiently and with fewer questions. New members can now get up to speed in 2-3 weeks versus 2-3 months.

HOW WE DO IT - Case Studies

McKesson Corporation

Objective:

OOA&D training for its internal development team

Solution:

Applying a structured, repeatable methodology and following an OOA&D approach provided added practicality, efficiency and quality to its development work
McKesson Corporation's Information Solutions division provides medical image management solutions to automate workflow and eliminate the use of traditional film in hospitals and clinics. McKesson has over 500 systems installed in medical facilities around the world from private imaging centers to pre-eminent university teaching hospitals. McKesson creates value for its customers by improving productivity, reducing operating costs and ultimately improving patient care through the delivery of more timely and accurate diagnostic information.

McKesson's software development team is very experienced, but wanted to learn more about Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA&D). It understood the related benefits of applying a structured, repeatable methodology for developing software and knew that an OOA&D approach would provide added practicality, efficiency and quality to the development work they do every day.

McKesson determined that the training course on OOA&D and the Unified Modeling Language (UML) delivered by Quadrus would provide just the skills they were looking for. During this course, McKesson's team members learned a development process and methodology that combined real-world experience with best practices from OMT, Objectory and the Unified Process. They produced analysis and design artifacts using the UML, a standard notation for object-oriented analysis and design. They also learned how to assign responsibilities to objects during the design phase.

Because Quadrus' instructors are both IT consultants and professional trainers, the McKesson development team was provided with unique insights and valuable "lessons learned" from the industry. Case studies were offered to give students extra hands-on practice using their new analysis and design skills. To accelerate the learning process, design and architecture patterns were employed—best practice formulas to facilitate skills transfer and improve designs.

In the end, McKesson was very pleased with the results of this OOA&D training and is currently enjoying the benefits of adopting this process and methodology in its day-to-day development activities. McKesson has since signed up for additional rounds of training from Quadrus.
