QUADRUS WINS MICROSOFT'S MEC 2000 SOLUTIONS AWARD FOR BEST EXCHANGE 2000 SOLUTION BY A PARTNER

Calgary, Alta., October 10, 2000 – Quadrus Development Inc., Calgary-based IT services and solutions provider, today was awarded Microsoft's MEC 2000 Solutions Award for Best Exchange 2000 Solution by a Partner. This award recognizes Quadrus as a world-leader in custom software development and e-business solutions.

Quadrus worked with Microsoft and Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) to develop a document library system within the Exchange 2000 Web Storage System that provides seamless access to CPR's information assets from the same web client that delivers email. The system developed by Quadrus makes a strategic step forward for CPR in providing web-based solutions for IT management in a multi-server environment and provides a significant part of the foundation for CPR's Internet strategy.

"The Document Library solution from Quadrus is a huge project with an incredible variety and number of factors," said Jim Minatel, Editor in Chief of Exchange & Outlook Magazine, and a MEC 2000 Solutions Awards judge. "It preserves functionality from multiple previous Notes applications while giving users access to them in the OWA mail client. The customer is a large distributed corporation with intense security and privacy regulatory concerns that had to be weighed. They have created a very simple to use system for shared data storage and incorporated the businesses new information taxonomy for accurate categorization. All of these factors and many others make the scope of this solution very impressive."

"The Quadrus approach to software development calls for a combination of proactive and risk-minimizing project management, cutting-edge technical expertise and leadership, battle-tested development practices, and experienced hands-on training and mentoring", said Brian Donaldson, Quadrus President & Chief Technology Officer. "The project with CPR, for which this award was won, is a great example of all the pieces of our development philosophy coming together to deliver a robust solution for a forward-thinking client moving to web-enable its business. Quadrus is honored to accept this award and to have had the privilege of working with visionary companies like CPR and Microsoft on a project of such strategic importance."

"With the launch of Exchange 2000, businesses will be looking to Quadrus to design and build innovative and custom software solutions that utilize the strength of the Exchange 2000 messaging and collaboration infrastructure," said Gordon Mangione, Vice President, Exchange Group at Microsoft. "Quadrus' quality-first approach to custom software development provides its consulting clients with the ability to leverage the full power and potential of Microsoft's products.  The IT solutions developed by Quadrus are quite an accomplishment and we look forward to even greater things from Quadrus in the future."
